Car Stereo Line Output Converter

Line output converter can be defined as a small device that converts high-voltage speaker-level signals to preamp-level signals; which is acceptable to an amp. If u want to connect an amp to your car stereo which doesn't have a speaker level inputs then it means you need a line output converter to have a preamp outputs. So you can connect your receiver to an amp by converting your receiver's speaker output into preamp-level signals. It consists of a transformer and (10 to 20 watts) a high-voltage resistor and connects to amp by using RCA patch cable. The amplifier in the head unit is being loaded by the resistor. It has also an adjustable gain feature to pull output.

Most of the line output converters have wire to ground the transformer. When the head unit is "on" the voltage on the output speaker wires, is almost half of the DC battery and changes rapidly when it is "on". Whereas, when the unit is "off", the voltage is 0 volt DC. As we already said, that the head unit's outputs has a large quick increase in DC voltage when the head unit is turned on. The transformer will provide the variation of voltage between the two input terminals. Since the DC voltage increases at the same time on both the input terminals, then the rhythm of the DC is irrecoverable. There are different types of Line Output Converters available in the market but Gizmo Peripheral is remained the industry leader in high quality LOC's.

There are simple Instructions for the line output converters which need to take in consideration. So connect the audio cable speaker's leads to the device from the car stereo. The line output converter then trims down all the inwards bound speakers' level audio signals until the outgoing signals get adjusted to the preamp inputs on the amplifier. An adaptor scosche performs many different applications. It accepts speaker level outputs and converts them to preamp level outputs. It has a fader control feature also that means; we can hook 2 channel amplifier or 4 channel amplifier easily and can not lose any fader control.

Adjustable line output converters helps to convert the radio speaker level output to the lower amplifier RCA level input. Installers use to convert their speaker level stereo to RCA levels with the help of Hi/low adaptors which hooks to an external car stereo amplifier. Hi/low converter with 2 channels and 4 channels are also available with or without adjustments. It is important to note that the match between your car stereo and amplifiers are the same. Adjustable hi/low converters allow to fine tune the hi/low device to match levels in the car and are the most popular in adjustable output converters. There are many adjustable output converters in 2 channels and 4 channels available. For example, Soundgate "LOC A" adjustable high performance Hi/Low adaptor features full DC isolation and handles 40 watts and Soungate "XR4", this performs dual functions such as to add an aftermarket receiver to a factory amplifier system or to add four channel amplifiers to a factory receiver. This feature can make adjustments on all four channels.

Were to buy best BMW and Ferrari Parts?

Are you in the market for aftermarket BMW parts? If so you may find that you have to pay quite a bit for them if you go through your regular retail suppliers. Because of the BMW name you will find that retailers are able to charge and arm and a leg for the aftermarket parts. When you assume that this is what you have to pay you'll pay any price. The fact of the matter is that there are some ways in which you might be able to save.

The first thing that you need to do is check out people that you know personally. If you belong to a car club you should talk with your associates and see if anyone has the aftermarket parts that you are in need of. You may be surprised by how many people have the things that you need and are willing to sell them to you for far less than retail, or in some cases they may even be willing to trade for something that you have that they need. This is a great way to go if you have contacts in the BMW world because you can often get a great deal!

Another option is to check auction sites. There are retailers that put many of their BMW aftermarket parts on auction sites. This allows for them to move their back stock while continuing selling for a much wider profit margin in their retail store. You can find all of the aftermarket parts for your car at a huge savings when you go this route. If you are looking for big additions such as engine parts or upgrades or exhaust systems saving can mean saving hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Who couldn't stand to save that much money?

Of course another option is to keep tabs on what your retailer does with their pricing. You may be able to anticipate sales and save a lot of money on the items that you want most. This may allow you to save hundreds of dollars and if you time it right you may be able to afford to buy more than one aftermarket addition to your vehicle!

All of these great ways to save are not just associated with aftermarket parts for BMW vehicles, they apply to aftermarket Ferrari parts and those associated with all makes and models of vehicles. The fact of the matter is that luxurious vehicles such as BMW and Ferrari are expensive to upgrade and being able to save on them will allow the consumer who wants to modify their vehicle to do so more affordably.

The Toyota Supra

The Toyota Supra is a legendary sports car which has appeared in action movies such as The Fast and the Furious, as well as racing video games such as Gran Turismo. Toyota, the manufacture of the Supra, produced the car between nineteen seventy nine and two thousand and two. Initially the Supra was the Celica Supra, a larger derivative of the Toyota Celica. In nineteen eighty six, seven years into its production, the Supra broke away from the Celica to become its very own model, simply the "Toyota Supra".

The styling of the Supra is obviously derived from the Celica, and also the older 2000GT which was produced in the late sixties. The front engined Supra had its own logo which has changed over the years. Initially the logo was similar to that of the Celica, but now it's very sporty, aggressive, and distinctive, mirroring the characteristics of the car. There have been numerous rumours over recent years regarding the possible revival of the Supra with the introduction of a Mark V. Many online and printed publications stated the car would be released in two thousand and eight, but Toyota said this was untrue.

The last generation before the car was discontinued in two thousand and two was the Supra MK 4. Full production of the MK 4 began in nineteen ninety three, with the car being much more refined compared to the previous generations, and of greater performance. The body of the car was much more rounded than previous variations, and the engines were changed. The Japan based model had an engine which was capable of an output of over two hundred and seventy break horse power. This Japanese model could also reach zero to sixty miles per hour in the mid four seconds.

Toyota Corolla is the World's Best-Selling Car?

Exportation of the Toyota Corolla from Japan to the United States began in March of 1968. At the time, this compact car was available as a two door coupe, a four door sedan or a two door wagon. The 1.1 liter 4 cylinder engine with 4 speed manual transmission provided the power, at the time, to the smallest car Toyota had ever introduced to the American marketplace. Since then, the original simple design and reliable mechanical engineering of the Corolla have served as the foundation for many future generations of this car which went on to become the most popular car line in automotive history. With the exception of the Land Cruiser, the Corolla is the oldest Toyota model still manufactured and produced as of the 2007 model year.

The Toyota Corolla is the world's best-selling car ever, with more than 30 million sold across ten distinct generations. Although the car hasn't been sold in the UK since February 2007, as it was superseded here by the Auris, it continues to be sold in overseas markets. The Corolla owes it popularity to the fact that owning one is utterly painless, if not especially rewarding. Cheap to buy and run, the cars have always been unfailingly reliable, astonishingly well equipped and supremely practical. However, even when offered in enthusiast guise, the cars have tended to be not especially well received by the press. That hasn't deterred millions of buyers from selecting the Corolla though, because the cars have always excelled where it matters.

The Corolla is a true mixed bag of a car. On the one hand it's dull in its interior and exterior design as well as unexciting (if competent) dynamically. But it's practical, reliable, economical and very easy to live with - and that one latter point is enough to swing it for many people. Around 30 million of them in fact. Which just goes to show that to build a successful car, you don't need to create something with any particular flair.

No car has ever sold in greater quantities than the Toyota Corolla, and while that's because there were nine different generations sold in the UK before it was superseded by the Auris in 2007, it's also because the Corolla has always had much to offer. However, despite being one of the easiest cars to own, the Corolla is far from perfect; such unfailing reliability comes at a price.

Accurately describing the Corolla using purely positive terms is not an easy task; this is definitely a vehicle which was designed as an appliance rather than as something to excite the senses. Face lifted cars (post-June 2004) are a bit less bland and a bit more modern than earlier editions, but there isn't much in it.

You'd think that a 1.4-liter turbo diesel would be far too weedy to allow a relatively large car like the Corolla to perform with any alacrity. However, with 89bhp on tap and a useful 140lb ft of torque, you can make decent progress with the D-4D - things are helped enormously by the more competent handling that the car enjoys over its predecessors. The car's top speed is 112mph while its 0-60mph time is 13.3 seconds.

TOYOTA COROLLA TYPES

Dec 2001: The new, ninth-generation Corolla hatch and Corolla Verso (estate) went on sale. There was a choice of 1.4, 1.6 or 1.8-litre petrol engines along with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel unit.
Sep 2002: A saloon was introduced, but few were sold in the UK.
Jun 2004: A face lifted Corolla was now available, with a revised nose and tail plus better equipment levels. At the same time, the 1.4 D-4D replaced the previous 2.0 D-4D turbo diesel.
Nov 2005: A supercharged Corolla went on sale. Aimed at the enthusiast, the car wasn't especially well received as its dynamics were not especially convincing.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • Toyota uses various translations of the word 'crown' for its key models. The name Corolla is taken from the Latin for 'small crown'.
  • Over the years there have been numerous Corolla spin-offs, including the Corolla Ceres, Corolla Levin and Corolla Matrix, as well as the Corolla Verso, Corolla Rumion and Corolla Spacio. However, not all models have referenced the Corolla originals. These include the Sprinter Trueno, Allex and Blade.
  • The Corolla has also been available via other car manufacturers. Over the years, the car has also been offered as the Holden Nova, Chevrolet Nova, Chevrolet Prizm and Geo Prizm.

The BMW 7 Series

The BMW 7 Series is one of best designs from BMW offering superb performance with better economy. It does win sales because of its looks as well. The 7 Series buyer is always proud to own it and rarely has got anything to complain about this car. It is well equipped and engineered as per 21st century driver's needs.

The BMW 7 Series is a superb car to drive thanks to its steering abilities. It features new system Integral Active Steering which sees the rear wheels turn in and out to assist the steering at lower speeds and reduce the car's turning circle.

The 7 Series is a top quality car constructed from sturdy materials. The attention to detail is to a high standard: subtle lights highlighting the door handles, the elegant flipping of the boot at the click of a button.

BMW offers a choice of four petrol engines but most buyers are expected to opt for the 231bhp 3-litre diesel engine we tested. It powers the car from 0-62mph in 7.8 seconds through the six-speed automatic gearbox and can achieve a top speed of 149mph.

Acceleration is very responsive. The gear changes smoothly and power is available quickly whenever required. The petrol engines range from the 3-litre 258bhp 730i which adds 5mph to the top speed to the range-topping 6-litre 445bhp 760i which covers the 0-62mph sprint in just 5.5 seconds and boasts a top speed of 155mph.

Each model comes with a three year warranty. The Reliability Index indicates issues with the BMW 7 Series tended to crop up after around six years and would usually concern the axle, suspension and the cooling system.

The changes to the latest 7 Series include a pair of distinctive new rear lights, and the BMW's trademark kidney grilles are larger. There is a greater attention paid to making the car look huge and appear sporty rather.

Overall, BMW efforts seem to have been successful with the 7 Series.

Cheaper and Faster than a Porsche?

I am afraid I have to take issue with some of the comments that have been flying about regarding Honda's reputation in this country. A rather sizeable group of people have been referring to the Honda range as 'transport for the elderly' and other such comments which really fail to do the Honda designers and engineers any kind of justice at all. In fact, I have gone out of my way to prove that this paradigm is simply not the case by discovering one of the most exciting and reasonably priced sports cars available on the market; the Honda S2000.

The new Honda S2000 has already been critically lauded as a cheaper and quicker alternative to the nearest priced Porsche model. It is also just as nimble and sturdy as the Porsche in the corners, so other than the badge on the front of the bonnet, the S2000 is clearly a superior choice to the Porsche. I'm sure that has got the attention of any of the recent Honda naysayers.

As for the ever important looks department, the Honda S2000 is really no slouch at all. The elongated front gives a very commanding look to this sports car and gives a marvellous feeling of a retro Formula 1 car from certain angles. In terms of design, the S2000 seems to be the perfect amalgamation of past and present design, optimised for performance in all counts.

I would recommend the brand new Honda S2000 as the affordable choice for anyone looking to buy a sports car. It certainly has more flair and power than the Mazda MX-5 or the Mazda RX-8 (the nearest competitors in terms of price. It appears Honda have done everything in their power to extinguish the fuddy duddy image of their brand and reinvigorate it with the only way they know how; a rip-roaring Honda S2000 sports car.

Pete Ridgard is a writer and a car enthusiast. Here he talks about his passion for the Honda S2000.

The New Era of Muscle Cars?

Muscle cars have evolved a lot over the years. The days of ground pounding monsters getting 6 or 8 mpg are gone, and a new age of muscle cars, and muscle car performance parts has arrived. The muscle cars nowadays are more powerful, more reliable, and get much better fuel economy. And the ones that are modded, now that's a different story.

Back in the day, if you had a hopped up muscle car, the power was incredible, but it wasn't very streetable. Nowadays you can make some minor modifications that will boost power noticeably and give you that little bit of extra power, without making it less streetable. Of course there's tons of things today that can be done to the modern muscle cars that will boost power significantly and make them run rough. The difference today is that there are options. On most of the muscle cars today, a simple cold air intake, tuner, and exhaust system will go a long way. a minimum of 60 additional horsepower without running rough, and several more miles per gallon on fuel economy. Which means you can actually drive it.

I recently met up with a turbo charger company here locally that has a unique set up for their turbo chargers. The company is STS Turbo. The are called remote mount turbo chargers. Also referred to as rear mount turbo chargers. The car that I experienced this system on was a 2003 corvette Z06. The turbos went in place of the mufflers, and the air filters mounted back by the rear tires. You then have charger pipes that carry the air back up to the intake of the engine. This corvette, running a moderate boost level was achieving 580 hp at the rear wheels. that was on a stock motor, no other modifications had been made to make it hold the extra power.

This corvette picked up tons of power, and if the motor were to be built to hold the extra power, the boost could be turned up higher and the car could have achieved about 750 horse power at the rear tires, and that's with the base turbos that came with the kit. One of the other astonishing things though was that the twin turbo set up added a significant amount of fuel economy when it was driven conservatively. Some of the people running the sts twin turbo kits are getting mid to high 30's in the miles per gallon. A muscle car that gets awesome gas mileage and has crazy power. STS makes their remote mount turbo kits for the Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, and all the hemi cars, as well as many other vehicle applications. Times really have changed.

The Mustang Performance Parts & Corvette Performance Parts have been the big changers in the muscle car aftermarket- Dan

The Dodge Magnum

The Dodge Magnum HID kit is the perfect upgrade for your Magnum both in terms of aesthetics as well as functions. Though not many models have been added, the Dodge Magnum is popular amongst automobile lovers and comes across as a powerful and utility vehicle. Before discussing the functional use of HID kits, you can be confident that with the installation of the HID kit your Magnum will get an instant image transformation. It will truly look great and will stand out from the rest. When driving at night, the high intensity of the HID lights will attract attention to your vehicle.

Dodge Magnum is a SUV and many prefer going on long drives in it. When going out for longer duration, night driving becomes inevitable. With the poor lighting provided by conventional headlights, night driving still remains a nightmare for many. Dodge Magnum HID kit helps ease out the stress associated with night driving. The xenon gas present in the bulb helps in emitting a high intensity light, which is about ten times brighter than ordinary headlights. This light is capable of lighting a larger area and helps the driver to see the path very clearly. Most of the headlights help in lighting up the path ahead while the light available to view obstacles sideways is limited. The brighter light of HID lights also help in lighting sideways, thereby making night driving very easy.

Dodge Magnum HID kits are designed in such a way that they are simple and easy to install. You require no prior experience or expertise to install the kit. The installation guide is pretty comprehensive and will help you in the step by step installation process. The kit can be installed in no time and you can experience the joy of driving without fear thereon.

There are many stores selling after market products. You can check these online stores to buy Dodge Magnum HID kit. The kit is designed to fit in the make and model perfectly and hence you will require no further assistance once you know the vehicle make and model. You can sit in the comfort of your home or office and check out the models available at these online stores before actually buying one. Researching the different models help you judge what is required to meet your needs.

Dodge Magnum HID kits are water resistant. You can submerge them fully in water and yet no water seeps in. This feature helps when you are driving out in the rains where water seepage further dims down the light emitted. They are all tested for performance and definitely last longer than ordinary lights. With proper maintenance and care you can ensure even longer life. The longer life of these lights saves you from the hassle of frequent replacement. They are also sturdier than ordinary lights and can withstand impacts to an extent. You can simple forget the worries associated with poor quality headlights once you install a Dodge Magnum HID kit. Have a safe drive all through!

Are You a Sports Car Enthusiast?

When looking for a mini van or something a little more sporty, a place you might not think of to find a good deal would be a government auto auction where you can bid on vehicles seized for various reasons. Sometimes you can find many of the higher end cars such as, Mercedes, Bentley, Porsche, and many more. It is possible to get an expensive car for a fraction of the cost.

Here is an example. Today a 2004 Bentley with a mere 32,000 miles, top of the line condition, interior and exterior was put up for bid. Two days remained for bidding with a deposit of $10,0000 starting bid and there had been no one interested enough to bid on this car. This car had been on the site for three weeks and there were no bids at all. This just goes to show you there are many people who do not know this site exists. Therefore they are missing out on the deal of a lifetime. The chance to pick up a car that you would love to have but could never afford can be realized here.

The following will give you a few ideas about government auto auctions:

  • Government auto auctions are the easiest way to pick up an expensive car for pennies on the dollar by being the highest bidder. There are no outstanding loans on the car. The government sells them to pay for the legal action they have against the criminals who are charged with dealing drugs or other serious offenses.
  • These government auto auctions can be found in many different places all over the United States on a regular basis - weekly, daily, or monthly - often they are online auctions. Some of these cars are in very good shape, with low miles. The criminals are not considering the seizure of their cars, so they are sometimes the best sports car you can purchase.
  • The automobiles are normally ones that have been seized by the DEA, Coast Guard, and US Marshall's for drug or criminal violations.
  • These auctions can include very high profile cars such as Mercedes, BMWs, Lamborghini, and many other sports cars that can be purchased for far less than the book value, which is affordable for most.
  • Government auctions can have just about anything up for grabs - houses, ATV's, motorcycles, and boats. This can be a great addition to the sports car that you purchased.
  • There will be a day set to inspect the merchandise for sale at these auctions before the date of the actual auction. This allows you to take your mechanic to check out anything you may be interested in before the bidding starts.
  • The money to purchase the automobile you bid on must be in place ahead of time. The auction normally will ask for a bidding deposit, such as the above. If cash is required there are still options for borrowing the money.
  • This is the way many people purchase their first sports car. It is used but in very good shape most of the time. The government car auctions have many autos so you may have a normal car in mind but end up with a luxurious high end car instead.
  • The savings can be astronomical!

Best Toyota Camry Parts

Automobiles are very complicated pieces of machinery. Most people don't stop to consider the inner workings of their car as long as it works fine and gets them where they're going. Of course, when something does go wrong, it's handy to be familiar with the major working parts of a car. You may think that cars are gross, oily beasts or that the details of cars just aren't for you. However, there are some interesting car parts that can appeal to anyone intrigued by technology and human ingenuity. Think about the word "automobile" for a moment. When they were first invented, it was incredible that something could move on its own, without being drawn by animals.

Today, we live in a world of aircraft, robotics, and even space shuttles, but we can still tap into that basic wonder in order to learn more about automobiles and what makes them work. Plus, ever since the first Model T rolled out, cars have become more complex, so there's that much more to learn. Even a car that is considered pretty basic has a lot going on, both inside and outside. What Toyota Camry parts might be interesting to learn about?

Electronics are a particular area of recent advancement in car development. The standard alarm systems are one of the most important examples of modern electronics in a car. Most modern systems actually involve a small computer that runs the show. The computer can determine if someone has tampered with the car's electrical system or cut off the main battery. If the main battery is cut, the alarm can still go off due to its auxiliary power source. This is an example of how car alarms have adapted to the techniques of criminals. Much, much more could be said about modern alarm systems. Like some other Toyota parts, they are more complex than they initially appear.

Even a car's glass can be fascinating. An interesting adaptation is the high solar energy absorbing (HSEA) glass that now comes standard along with other Toyota Camry parts. This enhanced glass can save on air conditioning by reducing the accumulation of heat inside the car. The glass is great at preventing solar energy from penetrating inside, much like tinted glass. Laws that vary by state limit the darkness of glass allowed on vehicles, so the qualities of HSEA glass are that much more important because they function without limiting visibility.

A more technical aspect of a running car is the PCV system. High pressure gases rich with hydrocarbons are found in the combustion chamber of a running engine. Small amounts of gas inevitably leak into the crankcase. Long ago, these fumes were allowed to diffuse into the atmosphere from engine oil. For environmental and functional reasons, the crankcase needs a ventilation system. The PCV system recycles the gas back into the engine intake where it can burn as fuel. The PCV valve controls the amount that goes back into the intake. At idle, the mixture of air and fuel is very delicate, and few vapors are allowed back in. At higher speeds, the valve can recycle more vapors. Keeping the PCV valve in good working condition is an important part of running a safe and environmentally respectable Camry.

These days, you can find all types of Toyota Camry parts online. This makes it easier to discover what kinds of car parts exist, so you can look them up and learn more about them. It also makes it simple to order replacement Toyota Camry parts or to purchase new parts and accessories to improve or customize your vehicle. With some research and effort, relatively small adjustments can be made to really improve the performance and feel of a car. Of course, in some cases, it's inconvenient or expensive to order Toyota Camry parts through local car shops, and that's why so many automobile websites have sprung up. Check them out and learn more about the complicated piece of machinery that is the Toyota Camry!

Ford Mondeo the Car That Evolves?

When it comes to choosing the best possible Saloon Cars, most car magazines or other Automotive mediums will inevitably point you in the direction of one particular make and model; the Ford Mondeo. The Ford Mondeo has been a consistent and popular seller since its release in 1993. Back then it was the replacement for the relatively popular Ford Sierra, which had been a good flagship model for Ford in the company car sector, but was beginning to lose steam. The Ford Mondeo was meant to reinvigorate the design and bring a more 'executive' edge to the manufacturer who were beginning to run out of ideas.

The Mondeo then began a 20+ year domination over the saloon car market, which is yet to dissipate thanks to Ford's constantly evolving design ethic. The current design falls into Ford's new 'Kinetic' design aesthetic, which is meant to represent the vehicle's movement even when it is standing stock still. This sounds a little bit 'clichéd' as far as design briefs go, but in practice it really works and looks rather striking.

In a rather crude experiment to see how the Ford Mondeo has evolved over time, I have spent the week comparing an original Mark 1 Mondeo to the new Mark 4 edition. Obviously first impressions are vastly differing; the Mk1 looks rather too much like the old Sierra for my liking, but is definitely a step in the right direction. In contrast, the MK4 looks like it was designed by Mercedes during a cloning of an SLK experiment gone wrong. In short, it looks fantastic.

The performance test confirms the new edition's clear dominance over the past incumbent. In a one lap time trial race of a 3.4 mile race track, there was a clear winner despite both cars having 2.0 Litre petrol engines. As if you hadn't guessed, the MK 4 won by a shamefully long 6.3 seconds.

So what we can agree on is that the Ford Mondeo's star is definitely still in its ascendency. Whether it will maintain its positive trajectory rather depends on Ford and the often fickle buying public.

Ferrari to Start Building Hybrids?

A green hybrid from an Italian icon? It seems a bit ludicrous, but the question of whether Ferrari is going to start building hybrids is not a joke. Ferrari may have no choice.

The joke about high end sports cars is that if you have to ask how many miles to the gallon they get, you can't afford them. Put more directly, the top end performers are designed from performance. Fuel efficiency and emissions are not just downplayed, they are utterly irrelevant. At least they were.

Ferrari is the classic high end sports car builder. It builds beautiful cars that simply blaze along the road. Of course, the cost of that is horrifically bad mileage and terrible emissions. Neither Ferrari nor the people buying the car really cared. Now they have no choice thanks to the new emission rules coming into place in the European Union.

The EU is taking pollution seriously as part of its efforts to curb global warming. The practical effect on cars is the emissions being produced by them are being cut by law. The EU is demanding a cut to rough 130 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer driven. Most Ferrari models produce about four times that amount, so you can see the problem.

The question for Ferrari is how it can continue to produce high performance cars and yet still comply with the EU emission requirements. This is particularly an issue since the requirements are expected to become even more stringent in the future. The answer by the company seems to be rooted in its F1 team.

The Scuderia, the Ferrari Formula One team, is well versed in making cars as light as possible while producing massive power and performance. The technology used there is being transferred to future Ferrari designs. The company seems bent on meeting the new standards by making the cars much lighter, more aerodynamic and even returning to a turbocharged engine. This will account for huge improvements in fuel efficiency, particularly the light cars, but a hybrid electric engine is going to be an inevitable result.

Perhaps most interesting is the potential use of the KERS system in street cars. Ferrari uses the system in F1 to some effect. KERS stands for Kinetic Energy Recovery System. It essentially produces electricity from the braking system and stores it. The driver can then push a button to add the power to the drive system when needed. It produces an additional 80 odd horsepower in the F1 cars, which is a nice jolt when needed.

Ferrari is nothing if not very inventive. The future is clearly a challenging place for low mileage sports cars. Given the prowess of Ferrari in Formula One, expect it to come out with some amazing green vehicles in the future. Prius beware!

The Honda Jazz Review

Honda Jazz has finally launched and has put to rest the speculation on its pricing. Jazz is offered with a price tag of Rs 7 lakh, the same as the price quoted when Honda Motors announced that a small car for India was on the anvil.

Honda Jazz is set to redefine the small cars segment in India. It is the first of the super hatchbacks to be launched in India this year. Honda Jazz, is marketed in 130 countries across the world and has arrived in India eight year after it was first launched in Japan. Honda has sold more than 25 lakh units of the cars on the globe.

When Honda decided to bring the car to India, it made sure that car has a new engine that delivered higher fuel economy and better performance. They called it the "Made for India Engine". What is significant about Honda Jazz is that it is venturing into a segment that has strongly support cars with value. Earlier, when Skoda launched their small car Fabia with a price of Rs 7 lakh onwards it received a limited response. Now Honda brings in Jazz with the same price tag. It was called the superhatch due to its pricing which is second most expensive after the costliest Fiat 500.

After Honda Jazz, four other super hatchbacks - Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i30 and Renault Sandero are set to roll into the country. Fiat Grande Punto will hit the stands next week. All these cars are priced between Rs 6 to Rs 8 lakh bracket, these are larger, more spacious and offer typical hatchback comfort. However, these super hatches are promise multi-airbags, anti-lock brake system, climate controls, high quality audio system and sunroof options. These features were only seen on luxury cars like the Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Corolla Altis and Skoda Octavia.

The car manufacturers are looking to aggressively market their products by showcasing their features and technology. Honda has given Jazz a 1.2litre i-VTEC engine which will be widely publicized in India. Volkswagen too has given the Indian bound Polo a 1.2 litre petrol powertrain and a 1.6 litre diesel engine to make it appealing to a wider section of society. Volkswagen promises more fun and more style with the Polo.

The car manufacturers are expecting small car owners upgrade to premium hatchbacks segment. Most of these are expected to be owners of Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai small car owners. They are also targeting people who would mind the cost of its ownership.

In the last fiscal year only 10,000 units of the premium hatchbacks including Skoda Fabia, Ford Fusion and Chevrolet SR-V were sold. The new superhatch launches are expected to push the sales to 40,000 to 50,000 units annually. A large portion of these sales will be Honda Jazz.

Honda has a reputation for comfort and performance through its sedans. This is likely to play a key role in the sale of Jazz.

Lamborghini Gallardo Or Ford Focus?

Every single driver will obviously have differing categories and stipulations regarding what makes the perfect car. Some will be of the opinion that power, speed and performance are the mark of a truly great car and suggest that the Bugatti Veyron or something similar is the perfect car. Others will hold esteem in a more aesthetic nature and put forward cars such as the Bentley Continental and the Aston Martin Vanquish as the real purveyors of automotive perfection. I have always held the opinion that the truly great cars don't focus on one thing, but try to encapsulate the needs and desires of everyone into their designs and engineering. This is precisely why my favourite car is the brand new Ford Focus.

Now you may be laughing or deriding me for saying that I would rather own a Ford Focus than a Pagani Zonda or a Koenigsegg, but that simply isn't true. I would love to own one of the many supercars or hypercars that are available on the market and if you gave me £1 Million to spend on a car I wouldn't disappoint you. All I am trying to say that in a practical world the new Ford Focus is a lot less likely to frustrate you than a supercar. Let me explain.

First of all you have fuel efficiency to take into consideration. Ford have become synonymous with engineering which seems to sip very frugally at the fuel reserves and the Focus is no different. With economical driving disciplines in place it is possible to get supermini standard fuel economy from a Ford Focus. This leaves you with more money in your wallet and having to spend less time stood at the pumps, refilling every few hours.

Secondly the issue of practicality has to be addressed. Everybody has to do a weekly shop, or pick up comestible goods from town. In a Ford Focus this is a relatively painless task. Parking is very easy, boot space is magnificent and thanks to the Ford Focus' 'understated' beauty, it won't attract vandals to pull it to bits. Adversely, if you choose to do your food shopping in your new Ferrari 599, you are going to find parking excruciatingly difficult, discover you only have the luggage space to fit a small punnet of Satsumas and the vandals will tear your Ferrari badge and wing mirrors off before you can even say "hands off my car!"

I will admit, owning a supercar would be a dream come true, I have a very soft spot for the Lamborghini Gallardo myself, but in an increasingly practical world, it becomes almost impossible to think of an apt time to use one. With the cost of petrol, the congestion on the roads and the increasing number of uninsured drivers on the road, why would any drive for pleasure?

Take my advice and get the best practical car money can buy; the brand new Ford Focus. You will get great performance and fantastic economy, just don't expect 0-60 in under three and a half seconds.

The Skoda Fabia VRS

When we think of the Austrian car-makers Skoda our mind automatically jumps to the Superb, a sort of upper middle class vehicle. But, not much hype or fan-fare follows their lower models like the Fabia. The topic for discussion here is the "Skoda Fabia vRS", Skoda's latest attempt at introducing a rally car on the roads.

Let's start off with the most important part of the vehicle, the engine. This particular engine has been used in everything from the Golf to the A6 and is, to be fair, far better than anything else it has ever produced in this class. The 1.9 liter, 4 cylinder, OHC, turbo charged diesel engine might not be the fastest car around but it sure does try really hard.

130 bhp at 4000 rpm doesn't sound like much, but keep the car between 1500 and 2700 rpm and you feel the full effect of the 310 nM of torque under the hood. It does 0-60 mph in approximately 9.6 seconds. Quite normal for this class of vehicle but the crucial pick up from 50 to 75 mph can be achieved in around 10 seconds in 5th gear which sounds very contenting when you think of the vehicle class. It tops out at a maximum speed of 127 mph which isn't very fast, but, it is good for its class. This car can easily complete 40 mpg, but, hit the motorway and you will be touching 60 miles to the gallon. The steering wheel (a three spoke sports steering wheel) gives terrific feedback and the performance of the car is far superior to any other ones in its class. The vRS moves on 16 inch aluminium alloy wheels through which you can spot green brake calipers.

When it comes to looks, the Fabia, has very little on offer whether it is on the inside or the outside. Skoda's chief designer, Thomas Ingenlath was in charge of designing the vRS and he has done a decent job in raising the bar for its down-market siblings. The front has been equipped with a pleasant front bumper, encasing the usual mesh-vent between two fog lamps. Around the back, you will find a deeper bumper with a chromed tail pipe which is a little off-centre, a boot spoiler and some discreet badging. This all sounds real nice, but, it is not even close to the stunningly fashionable World Rally Car.

The interiors have the same feeling as most of the cars from the Volkswagen group. The switch gear (made of aluminium) is well laid out and the dials are clear and easily readable. The seats (monogrammed RS grey and black fabric sports seats) are actually, very comfortable and move in every possible way which makes finding a comfortable position relatively easy. A couple of vRS logos on the dials complete the look.

Skoda has gone all out when it comes to specking the vRS. ABS, MSR and ASR all help with the handling while ESP can be added at an extra cost. On the comfort and safety front, air-conditioner, electric front windows, single-slot CD player, alarm, remote central locking and driver and passenger airbags all come as standard.

Now that everything has been discussed let's come down to the price. At £12000 it is far better priced than any of its rivals and it has a good re-sale value as well.

All-in-all, this car is good without being great. It is very reliable, economical too and it can still turn heads. Really. .

King Toyota presents the third generation Toyota Prius i.e. the much awaited 2010 model with upgraded amenities and features. King Toyota was established in 1968 and over forty years later, King Toyota is still known as one of the leaders in the automotive industry. King Toyota's mission is to focus their entire organization in delivering outstanding customer service that exceeds the customer's expectations. Hence King Toyota believes in getting the latest models of their customers' favorite cars to them at the earliest.

Celebrated as the benchmark for cars of the future, the midsize third-generation 2010 Toyota Prius hybrid car will offer

• Better mileage ratings,
• Enhanced performance, and
• Innovative design features.

It will be quieter, roomier, and equipped with advanced standard and available features such as a moon roof with solar panels, four driving modes, Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA) and steering wheel touch controls that display on the instrument panel.

The Prius extends its record of continuous improvement in fuel economy. Using a combination of technologies, fuel efficiency was increased to an estimated 50 miles per gallon for the new Prius. A larger and more powerful 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle, four-cylinder engine will power the new Prius. Being a hybrid, the Prius can run on engine alone, battery alone, or a combination of both.

The redesigned exterior of the new Prius has front and rear corners that are sharp, sporty and aerodynamic. Strong side character lines, rising from front to rear, define the glazed geometric shape. The solar powered ventilation system uses an electrically powered air circulation fan that does not require engine assist. This prevents the interior air temperature from rising while the vehicle is parked, making the cool-down time shorter when the driver returns to the vehicle, thus reducing the use of air conditioning.

When the driver touches the audio or info switch located on the steering wheel, a duplicate image is displayed on the instrument panel, directly in front of the driver. This system, called Touch Tracer, is the first system in the world to allow steering wheel controls to read out on the instrument panel. The ECO indicator on the Multi-Informational Display (MID) provides driver feedback and guides the driver to optimize their skills for lower fuel consumption.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control system, using advanced millimeter wave radar, is an available option. The system also enables Lane Keep Assist, which helps the driver stay safely within the lane. Next-generation Intelligent Parking Assist features simplified settings to help guide the car into parking spaces. Bluetooth Technology and Navigation System are some of the many other options that add to the comfort and convenience features in the Prius.

The New 2009 Toyota Venza

"The Venza is targeted at an emerging section of the market that prioritizes sleek styling, excellent handling and road manners, combined with a surprising amount of utility," Toyota says. More aggressively styled than your average Toyota, it is aimed at North America and will be sold here exclusively. Some might see it as a Camry wagon. Not Toyota.

Sitting on the Camry's 109.3-in.-wheelbase platform, it is slightly shorter but 3.3 in. wider and 5.5 in. taller. Its 70.1 cu. ft. of EPA-spec cargo volume and 108 cu. ft. of total passenger volume are far greater than the Camry's yet far short of the more utilitarian Highlander's 95.4 and 145.7 cu. ft. Its closest competitor is probably Nissan's stylish Murano.

The exterior begins with a bold face led by a distinctive grille, headlamps and standard fog lamps. The body shape is aerodynamic, with short overhangs, forward-sweeping A-pillars, crisp character lines and a low roofline. The rear is dominated by an angled rear hatch and capped by a functional spoiler and wide wraparound taillamps that connect with the hatch door. Flared fenders, large wheel openings and standard 19-in. wheels and tires (20-in. on V-6 models) provide an aggressive, sure-footed look.

Inside, Venza's standard "Optitron" speedometer and tachometer and multi-color instrument panel can be decorated with available satin mahogany faux wood trim. The standard dual-zone automatic climate system's controls are centrally located on the upper console for easy access. Cargo utility is enhanced by standard fold-down 60/40 rear seats, with one-touch levers and a tonneau cover.

Venza is offered in a single grade with a choice of front-and all-wheel drive and eight option packages--Tow Prep, Security, Convenience, Lighting, Leather, Comfort and two Premium packages--and just four stand-alone options. Those are JBL premium audio, navigation, a power tilt/slide Panoramic Glass Roof with a separate fixed glass panel over the rear seats, and rear-seat DVD entertainment with a nine-inch display, JBL Synthesis surround sound, two wireless headphones, a remote, an auxiliary mini-jack, a 120-volt outlet and RCA mini-jacks. One industry first is a multi-information display with adjustable font size and content, and the nav system is fluent in English, Spanish and French.

The standard six speaker audio system includes a six-disc in-dash CD changer, satellite radio and MP3/WMA playback capability. The optional 13-speaker JBL Synthesis surround sound system adds hands-free Bluetooth wireless phone capability with or without the voice-activated, touch-screen DVD navigation, which adds music streaming and XM NavTraffic.

Among the Venza's key standard features are privacy glass, roof-mounted XM Satellite Radio antenna, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel with integrated audio controls and Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), which temporarily applies the brakes on uphill slopes to ensure easy starting with no rollback. The adjustable center console has a sliding cover and armrest, three MP3 player holders with wire concealment features and a large storage compartment, and the rear hatch has an easy-close (or available power cinch) function.

Venza is Toyota's first "car" with standard Star Safety System, which includes ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), enhanced Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC) with a cutoff switch and Brake Assist, which supplements braking power in emergencies. Also included are seven airbags--front, front-seat side, roll-sensing side curtains and a driver's knee bag--and front active headrests.

The standard engine, a new 182-hp DOHC 16-valve 2.7-liter four with dual VVT-i (intelligent variable valve timing), delivers more than acceptable performance at light loads and an estimated 21 mpg city and 29 highway with front-wheel drive (FWD), one mpg less with AWD. For towing (up to 3,500 lb.), heavier loading and/or satisfying uphill performance, you might want to opt for the much stronger 268-hp DOHC 24-valve 3.5-liter V6, which is good for 19 mpg EPA city and 26 highway with FWD, or a mpg less with AWD. Both drive through a six-speed sequential-shift electronically-controlled automatic transmission that matches gear selection to conditions and gives moderate engine braking on downhill slopes. The available AWD's Active Torque Control optimizes torque distribution between the front and rear wheels.

The Venza's suspension--MacPherson struts with stabilizer bars front and rear--delivers relatively agile handling with surprisingly comfortable ride. The electronic power steering (EPS) minimizes effort while delivering reasonably good feel. In short, it drives pretty much like a taller, roomier Camry. And much better, we believe, than Toyota's bigger, heavier, more truck-like Highlander.

The Ultimate 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 the Sports Car

The 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 took it long enough to find its way from concept to production.Putting an end to all the speculations, rumors and spy shots from auto news magazines the next generation sports car from GM surfaces. Finally the long wait for the new Corvette ZR1 proves fruitful as it meets the expectations of everyone including auto enthusiasts and buyers.

Power

As anticipated the new Corvette ZR1 is one of the most powerful and expensive sports cars ever produced by General Motors. The 2009 ZR1 is well equipped with latest automotive technology to make the competition harder for the Porsche 911 GT2,the Ferrari 599 and Nissan GT-R.The ZR1's massive 6.2L V8 mated to a 6-speed manual transmission produces 620 horsepower. The close ratio manual gearbox and advanced clutch design also helps in increasing the V8's output.

Performance

GM assured that the 2009 Corvette ZR1 can run at maximum 200mph speed beating its Z06 counterpart as well as other contenders -Ferrari 599 and Lamborghini LP640.The 2009 ZR1 is expected to accelerate 60mph in about 3 seconds closer to Z06's 3.6seconds mark.

Exterior

The ZR1 shares the chassis and platform with Z06 but differs in upgraded front and rear independent suspensions. The extensive use of carbon fiber in the hood, roof panel and front façade ensure excellent finishing and enviable look.A transparent polycarbonate window on the hood makes the ZR1 unique. Its 19-inch alloy wheels not only add style but improve the riding quality as well. The ZR1 sports exclusively designed 12 inches wide Michelin PS2 tires.

Suspension

GM implements the Magnetic Ride Control (MSRC) suspension system in Corvette ZR1.MSRC is an adjustable suspension, which adjusts itself automatically in every millisecond according to driving conditions and vehicle's speed to ensure easymaneuvering of the car.Even though the 2009 Chevy ZR1 is more powerful sports car than its corporate sibling Corvette Z06 it offers smoother ride and easier handling because of MSRC.

Interior

The 2009 Covertte ZR1 comes loaded with a whole new lot of standard luxury feature-simply more than what you have expected.Premium leather upholstery and chic gauges and instrument panels give an opulent feel.A CD player with MP3 capability, satellite radio and auxiliary port adds to the luxury of driving a sports car. Other comfort features include keyless access, power adjusted driver's seat and steering wheel mounted audio controls.

Very little is left for optional features. The premium interior packages include topnotch power adjustable sports seats, head-up display, telescoping steering, electronics navigation system and Bluetooth connectivity as well as additional color choices for leather trimming.

Safety

Safety features are the most important for a car that achieves a top speed of 200mph.The ZR1 is equipped with anti-lock brakes, traction control and electronic stability control system.Though dual front air-bags are provided the auto reviews on the Chevy Corvette ZR1 reveals that the car with such high caliber should have more safety features to pass with distinction.

However, the high profile sports car from Chevrolet comes with an equally high price tag of $100,000.With all its pros and cons,a mark of power and luxury, the 2009 Corvette ZR1 is sure to be the sport car lovers' delight.

What is Karmann Ghia?

The Karmann Ghia was essentially a VW Beetle with a different body shell attached, yet it is considered an elegant sports car. So what constitutes a sports car? For the Karmann Ghia it was all about styling.

In the years following World War II VW had been successfully producing small and efficient automobiles like the Beetle, with a reputation for outstanding reliability. But as time wore on consumers began demanding vehicles with style and elegance, reflecting the changing attitudes at the time. This call was answered by the Karmann Ghia.

The end result however was a car which appealed to 2 very different groups. There were those who wanted a Porsche on a VW budget, and those who wanted a beautiful European touring car that was durable. This was achieved because VW chose to stick to its reliable Beetle chassis, yet covered that Chassis with a shell that was hand built to perfection using methods not seen anywhere else but on the world's finest cars.

Then end result was a car which could not reach 100mph unlike its rivals, but this could easily be overlooked thanks to its beautiful styling and knowing it wouldn't let you down whilst out on the road. During its 18 year production run, around half a million people considered these points more important than thoroughbred racing performance.

It is worth noting that VW emphasized all of the above facts in its advertising. They made it a point to openly declare that it was mechanically identical to the Beetle, and had slogans such as "The 1963 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. Slower, but Prettier Than Any Porsche!". This was an honest advertising campaign, and captured the attention of the public. Unfortunately due to high import duties at the time relatively few made it over to the UK, but this didn't stop the car being a huge success at the time and going on to become a classic car.

The 1965 Chevy Shelby GT-350

The 1965 Ford Mustang was one of the most successful cars ever built, selling over one million in the first eighteen months. This iconic car formed the basis for the 1965 Shelby GT-350. In 1964, legendary Carroll Shelby was approached by Ford to produce a race version of the popular 1965 Mustang. Shelby had been a racer in the 1950's; by 1960, he had retired, becoming a designer of high-performance cars

Shelby built 100 of these cars by the first of the year in 1965. All were painted white with blue pinstripes. This super-tuned version of the Mustang was designed to give the Mustang name an image of high performance, and it was very successful at doing exactly that. The car won five of the Sports Car Club of America's six divisions in its first year, and went on to be the SCCA's B-production champion for three years in a row. They are said to be as close to a street-legal racing car as has ever been offered by an American motor company.

Differences from the regular Mustang included a pumped up engine and reinforced suspension. Shelby added a big four-barrel carburetor, free-flow exhaust headers, and other high-performance modifications. A rear axle from the Ford Galaxie replaced the stock assembly, along with bigger drum brakes in the rear and new disc brakes in the front. A set of cast-aluminum wheels and high-performance Goodyear tires, as well as a quick-ratio steering box, made the Shelby GT-350 handling much more impressive than that of the standard Mustang, known to have a strong understeer. The Shelby GT-350 had a top speed of 130 miles per hour, and was rated at 306 horsepower versus the 271 horsepower of the standard Mustang. An optional supercharger reportedly boosted the horsepower over 400, cutting the zero to 60 time to just five seconds.

On the exterior, the steel hood was replaced with a fiberglass one with a functional hood scoop. Inside, the Shelby included racing seatbelts and a missing back seat, to qualify the Shelby GT-350 as a sports car under SCCA rules. Though the first 250 or so were white with blue stripes, the last several hundred came in red, blue, green, and black, all with white stripes. Shelby eventually added an optional fold-down rear seat.

While these GT-350 versions were meant for the street, Shelby also designed a GT-350R model, with special features for the track including high-power heads, a stripped interior, and a super-duty suspension, along with other changes, reducing the weight by over 300 pounds.

In all, 562 Shelby GT-350 cars were produced in 1965, with less than thirty of these as GT-350R racers. At an initial price of $4,547, this was several thousand more than a V8 Mustang, and a few hundred more than a Chevy Corvette. Although they were quite expensive when first sold, many critics actually believed that it would not achieve collectible status because too many were produced. Today, the car remains quite popular among collectors. Though it is out of reach for most car enthusiasts, numerous diecast model and pedal car versions satisfy collectors' appetites for this classic sports car.

The Porsche 914 Modifications

The Porsche 914 is an extremely adaptable sports car. Introduced in 1969 the model was produced until 1976. The mid engine two seater is a small car and very nimble. The only down side with the 914 is that it was slightly underpowered. I believe this was done to keep the 914 from cutting into the market share of the Porsche 911.

The engines available in the stock 914 during the run were the 1.7L (flat-4), 1.8L (flat-4), 2.0L (flat-4), and 2.0L (flat-6). this is where the modification of the Porsche 914 begins. It is most common to rebuild one of the stock original stock engines and with the vast availability of Porsche aftermarket parts and OEM parts you can put together a very snappy 914 with acceptable horsepower increases. Where the fun is is in the installation of more productive Porsche 911 engines. The most popular engine change is the 2.7L, next on the list in popularity is the 3.0L both produce excellent horsepower and are extremely reliable. The king of the hill however is without a doubt the 3.6L which will give a Porsche 914 enough horsepower to drive just about anything off of the asphalt. When changing out the stock engine with one of the more powerful Porsche 911 flat-6 engines it is necessary to install stiffening kits into the 914 because of the increase in torque and horsepower these engines deliver.

The next natural step in the modification of the Porsche 914 is the suspension. The stock 914 used a 4 lug bolt pattern for the wheels which doesn't leave much room for change. The stock suspension should be upgraded to the 911 in the front for the 5 lug bolt pattern which is more responsive can be upgraded easier and carry larger wheels and tires. Also the rear of the car must have 914-6 hubs installed and the trailing arms reinforced, this will also allow the use of 5 bolt pattern wheels. Changing to the 5 bolt pattern also allows you the option of using any of the Porsche fuchs wheels of the appropriate size.

Finally, the last of the Porsche 914 modifications is the body. Without taking away the original look of the 914 there are a variety of body kits available from fender kits in steel to fiber glass to Porsche 916 look alike kits. The ultimate body modification kit for the 914 is the 1964 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS Coupe. Modifying the body of the Porsche 914 will absolutely change the dynamics of the car. Everything from aerodynamics, to overall weight will create a different feel in the car which is to be expected.

When modifications to the 914 are being considered it is a personal thing. I have attempted in this short space to give you a picture of just what can be done with the versatility of the Porsche 914. Mechanical changes to effect overall performance, suspension changes to increase stability and driveability and body modification to personalize the exterior of the car. As for the interior that is where I stop. There is just to much that can be done to make the interior space of the 914 a reflection of the owner.

The Death of Pontiac?

General Motors will 'Shut Down' the 'excitement division' - Pontiac - by the end of 2010. Their decision to cut the long time muscle car brand was among several aggressive steps listed in a recently updated survival plan to the federal government. This leaves GM with four core brands to place their focus: Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac. Have we regressed to the beginning of the 20th century?

The fate of Saturn, Saab, and Hummer are still to be decided. At this time it appears they will either be sold or also shut down.

Interestingly enough, the problem for Pontiac was not sales, according to GM CEO Fritz Henderson. Instead, it was their long running addiction - profits. Indeed, Pontiac was the company's third best selling brand, lead by Chevy and GMC. Pontiac sold twice as many as Buick which is currently set to survive the federal shakeup.

Back to the 1950's

Pontiac's identity as a 'muscle car' brand goes back to the lat 1950's and early 1960's. These cars were originally designed with wider bodies and pushed out wheels. This 'wide track' design made the cars look agile and aggressive - and remained with the brand up until modern times.

After producing the now famous Pontiac Temptest LeMans GTO in 1964, Pontiac secured its place as the first true 'muscle car'.

"There was a time, a long way back now, when you knew exactly what Pontiac stood for," said Kevin Smith, editorial director for the automotive Web site Edmunds.com.

Recent efforts from vice chairman Bob Lutz tried to revive Pontiac's image. His plans called for Pontiac to produce mainly rear-drive 'modernized' muscle cars - such as the 2004 GTO or the rwd G8 sedan. This would have given them a unique selling point over other front wheel drive American cars, in addition to competing with RWD performance brands like BMW.

Unfortunately Pontiac's revival was not to be. Their most popular car remains the G6, followed by the Vibe. The australian based GTO and G8 had only dismal sales. Bob's plans were further crushed when gas prices soared and the EPA further tightened their grip on consumer transportation with tougher fuel economy regulations. So Pontiac returned to selling rebadged Chevrolet counterparts by offering the G3.

Pontiac's lack of providing true value as a brand may finally have brought its demise, said Smith. "That's just death in a marketplace where there's so much competition and so much quality," he said.

The Porsche Cayenne

Frankly speaking, it is the Cayenne that compels me to use the word vehicle in conjunction with Porsche. Before the introduction of the Cayenne, Porsche only used to manufacture cars. Thus, this model signifies a significant shift in the designing paradigm of Porsche. The Cayenne has the first V8 engine built by Porsche since the discontinuation of the 928 in 1995.

The model range

The Cayenne range, although relatively new, can be divided into two stages of development. The range manufactured from 2002 to 2006 is called the 1st generation Cayenne while the vehicles since have been known as the 2nd generation. The differences between the two are listed below.

Green Luxury Car is Lincoln C Concept

Where have all the luxury cars gone?

It seems as though nice cars have been put on the back burner while small, cheap cars take their place. There's nothing wrong with small cheap cars, but there is something wrong with taking away the nice cars.

Lincoln seems to have a solution to this. They call it the "C" Concept. It's a completely green luxury car with the capacity to change how we think about automobiles - and is downright cool.

The "C" gets its styling from the ever-so-popular box car design, but Lincoln has rounded it off quite a bit. On the exterior one might say that a VW New Beetle and a Chrysler PT Cruiser ran into a Lincoln Navigator and formed what we see as the "C". On the interior, the Bladerunner-esque ergonomic seats make you want to take a nap while the panoramic instrument panel invites you back to the future. While you're marveling at the design the "C" senses your presence and greets you with a customizable avatar that proceeds to go over your schedule with you and alerts you to any e-mails or text messages that you've received.

Assuming you've cleaned up the mess you've made while you were drooling and decided to take the 1.6L EcoBoost powered vehicle for an environmentally friendly spin you'll probably notice that your "C" winks at other "C"s that it comes across on the road. Just a little flash from the headlight closest to the other "C".

Here's something for the audiophiles. Fingertip controls for GPS Navigation, Satellite Radio, MP3 Players, and Social Networking. Lincoln has yet to define social networking in this respect, but it will be interesting none the less.

Hopefully this will be one car we'll be "C"ing a lot of in the future.

3 Things Mercedes Benz Need to Think About

The Mercedes Benz line of automobiles has been hailed as one of the top rated in terms of longevity. The German engineering might have something to do with it, but typically it has a lot to do with Mercedes owners caring for their cars.

Eventually, the inevitable will happen; you'll have to give your Mercedes repair. Indianapolis or Berlin, it doesn't matter where you're from. These tips to maintain and care for your car are above borders and can drive you to 155,000 miles and beyond.

Think coolant.

The proper antifreeze mixture will lower the freezing point of water and raise its boiling point. You can pick up antifreeze in either pre-diluted bottles or straight antifreeze to mix yourself. Green is fine, but not for your Mercedes. It's best recommended to use the pale orange solution.

Mercedes manufactures a special mix containing additives that neutralize the pH in the coolant. This wards off engine block, radiator, and engine head corrosion. Although a brand of antifreeze claims to be formulated for Mercedes, only the Mercedes official coolant contains all the necessary buffers. The cost for the Mercedes antifreeze may be double per gallon over the cost of the cheaper green antifreeze.

It's also recommended to drain and change the coolant every twenty four months.

Think lubricant.

The debate looms on over standard oil versus synthetic oil, but if yours is a Mercedes built after 1998 and has the Flexible Service System, the decision has been made for you: synthetic oil only.

Which is probably fine, if the increased cost of synthetic over standard isn't enough to ruin your day. There are a few advantages of the synthetic to consider, but mainly, synthetic oil remains a liquid down to 60 below zero Fahrenheit and remains thick and filmy at extreme high temperatures, something to help you avoid major repairs. Extreme climates, whether hot or cold, make synthetic oil the only real option.

The synthetic oil reduces wear on the mechanical parts greatly as well. Depending on a variety of internal computer factors, your Mercedes may not require oil changes at a frequent interval, whereby saving you even though the cost per quart is nearly triple that of standard oil.

Think power.

Especially important in the late fall, you must be sure to prepare your Mercedes for the winter, and that definitely includes the battery and vehicle lighting. If your battery needs charging from time to time in the warmer days, you can expect it to fail you on the colder days.

The reasons aren't clear, but original factory batteries tend to last longer than replacements. Some basic checks will help you avoid a dark night of being stranded. Make sure the terminals are free, tight, and clean. Make sure the acid levels are at the mark. If not, be sure to have it tested to find out what's lacking.

As for lighting, too often vehicles are running with burned out bulbs and non-functioning signals. You shouldn't trust any kind of warning mechanism. Instead, routinely check the outside lights and interior lights for missing bulbs. You can find a list of what should be lit inside and out at the different ignition stages and under various circumstances at your Mercedes dealer's website.

When it comes to keeping your Mercedes in the long-life lane, it's important to think: about the coolant, about the lubricant, and about the power. Knowing the right antifreeze is protecting your engine, the right oil is performing for you, and the right charge is in the battery, is most of the battle. Rely on these steps to ensure you won't need a major repair anytime soon.

The New Lexus Hybrids

Many of the world's largest car manufacturers have experienced sales slumps since the global economic decline, yet some remain more optimistic than others.

Japanese giants Lexus are currently experiencing their worst sales period in their 20 year history, yet they aim to combat this slump by selling 25,000 new Lexus hybrid vehicles a year in the US alone as they really do believe in their product.

They have it all to do though as due to the rapid decrease in US gasoline prices, demand for hybrid vehicles - powered by an electric motor and a gas or diesel engine - has obviously dipped.

This isn't good news for Lexus, or indeed their parent company, Toyota, who pioneered hybrid technology with the first mass produced hybrid vehicle, the Toyota Prius - along with the Lexus marque, the Japanese giants have seven hybrid vehicles on the market.

Of course, Lexus should be praised for continuing their pursuit of eco-friendly perfection, and let's hope for the good of the globe that more people revert to greener cars, but with the current economic downturn, many people have more pressing priorities in terms of expenditure.

Buying a new Lexus is not at the top of most peoples' priorities list, many UK buyers in a position to take advantage of the new Government scrappage scheme will be looking at lower end vehicles, though sales predictions of new Lexus vehicles are relatively high in other countries as well as the US.

Hybrid vehicle sales are on the increase in Japan - a notoriously difficult market to make any headway in over the last 20 years - and with two new Lexus hybrid vehicles entering the market, they will most certainly appeal to the higher end of the market

One thing is for sure though, if the economy begins to pick up, both in the UK and especially in the US, the new Lexus hybrid models will be a popular choice with those seeking an eco-friendly, yet luxurious and stylish vehicle.

The aim of Lexus to combine their engineering and design expertise with the latest in hybrid technology looks sure to prove a winner, even if the sales target of 25,000 units seems a bit steep given the current market conditions.

With this combination of motor design excellence, Lexus will have no problem riding the current economic storm and look set to lead the hybrid revolution - something that must be embraced for the good of the planets in years to come.

Humorous Beginnings of Lamborghini

Most companies originate because a person or persons has an inspiring vision that they've pursued most of their life. Then there are those companies that are founded on stories that would make great films. The origins of Lamborghini certainly fall into this category.

Lamborghini is, of course, the exotic sports car company in Italy. The company has made famous brands ranging from the Countach to the Diablo GT. They are beautiful cars as one has come to expect from the Italian tradition of exotic cars design. The origin of the company, however, is something entirely different.

Ferruccio Lamborghini created the car company bearing his name. He was not by nature a car designer. Born in 1916, he was an industrialist know for manufacturing heaters and tractors. In fact, Lamborghini tractors are still sold today. Regardless, he was very successful and this soon led to some serious wealth. He started buying sports cars. As his wealth increased, so did the quality of cars he bought.

Ferruccio eventually started buying Ferraris. He was a big fan and owned three of them. The only problem was he kept having clutch problems. He eventually went directly to the source to discuss the problem - Enzo Ferrari. Enzo, of course, created the Ferrari brand and line of cars. Imagine the scene - the two individuals responsible for starting Ferrari and Lamborghini having a conversation.

This epic conversation did not go well. The conversation quickly became an argument. All indications are Ferruccio accused Enzo of poor workmanship while Enzo accused Ferruccio of being an inferior driver. Ferruccio couldn't let that stand. Upon returning to his home, he decided it was time to teach Enzo Ferrari a lesson. He would build a car better than the Ferrari.

The rest, as they say, is history. Ferruccio gutted one of his tractor factories and hired two former Ferrari engineers to design the car. The result was the beautiful Lamborghini 350GT. Built in 1960, it topped out at 150 miles per hour and was generally considered the best car of its time.

Passion burns bright, but does not burn long. The promising start for Lamborghini failed to evolve into a long term success. The company has been near bankruptcy numerous times. Ferruccio finally sold off his company in 1973. Since then, it has been owned by an odd group of individuals and companies, including Chrysler for some time, before Audi finally purchased and stabilized the company.

Lamborghini is once again producing beautiful cars that few can afford. Audi has brought stability to the company. Ferrari is definitely more successful these days, but that doesn't mean Ferruccio Lamborghini won't win out in the long run!

The Ford Capri

Not too many cars enjoy a forty-year run, but the Ford Capri is turning forty this year, and that's something to be celebrated. Sure, it's not manufactured anymore but that doesn't mean that it's not still very popular. People still have them, and they drive them a lot. There are clubs for the Capri, too, and several dealers are having parties and other events to celebrate the car. It was a muscle car, and it had an iconic place in car history, mostly in the seventies.

The sixties and the eighties enjoyed it, too, but it wasn't as big in those particular decades as it was during the seventies. That's really the place that it has in the history of the motor car - as a seventies muscle car that big, tough guys liked to drive really fast. It made them cool, apparently, and a lot of them have kept these cars, re-purchased one for a dash of nostalgia, and passed them down to their children. It's helped to keep the Capri popular, like some other cars that have also enjoyed long-term manufacturing runs and didn't die out even when the company stopped making them.

The idea that dealers are so interested in these cars is a great one, because it means that the people who enjoy them and who still appreciate them can see these cars officially celebrated at a dealership instead of only seeing them honoured in backyard and block parties where Capri owners get together to swap stories and talk about how they feel about their cars.

These are fun, too, and will no doubt take place, but they aren't the same as gathering at a dealership to formally recognize the Capri and the place that the car has created for itself in motoring history. The types of events that will be taking place will depend on the dealers, of course, because everyone has a different idea of what constitutes a party. Ford might also have specific criteria for its dealerships, but whatever is done it promises to be a good time for the dealerships and the people who love their Ford Capris.

What is Better Bentley o Rolls Royce?

If you're in the market for a new car - a really nice new car - you might be facing the tough choice between a Bentley and a Rolls Royce. As for which one is better, though, that's hard to say. They're both exquisite cars and they both have a lot to offer. They're also both very expensive, so it's not like you'll save a lot of money buying one over the other.

For people who buy these kinds of cars, money generally isn't an object. If you want to buy one and can't afford to get it new, though, you can also consider buying one of them used. They still won't qualify for the term 'inexpensive' but they might come a little bit closer to it than they would have if they were still brand new.

Features are important, of course, but it's very difficult to get one of these kinds of cars that's not fully loaded. They come with the same kinds of options that lower-priced cars have, and then some. That's true of both of the models, too, so choosing one of them over the other based on price or features isn't really realistic. The same is true of the prestige of driving them, too. Mostly, which one you like best will be the main reason for choosing one over the other.

There is no real 'better' when it comes to cars of this calibre. There is only exceptional - and for many of the same reasons between the two brands. There are not that many different models of these cars, so it's not a matter of choosing an SUV over a sports car. It's a matter of preference for one particular name, a tiny bit of different styling, or some other issue that people who aren't fans of these kinds of cars might find insignificant. It's a matter of what you like and don't like, and it's a matter of how much you read and pay attention to reviews. You can find some that say one car is better than the other. If you look around, you'll find reviews saying the opposite when it comes to which car is the best choice. Some rank them equally. Only you can decide which one is really right for you.

Top 10 Best of the best Japanese Cars

Japanese cars come with a long list of reasons why to purchase them with the top reasons being reliability, fuel economy, and longevity. Face it; there are Japanese vehicles on the road today that are twenty years old or older. Every year Warranty Direct, an independent mechanical breakdown insurer, compiles a list of the top 20 cars in the world. And the majority of the vehicles that show up in the top 20 - usually around 16 of them - are Japanese vehicles. More often than not, the Honda Accord is sitting at number one.

How does Warranty Direct rank these vehicles? They take a look over the database of vehicles sold in the previous year and then rank them on how they performed and the frequency of failure over the year. The list includes both new and used vehicles, with used vehicles being purchased more than new ones.

So what were the top ten most reliable Japanese cars of last year?
1. Honda Accord
2. Subaru Forester
3. Mazda MX-5
4. Mitsubishi Carisma
5. Toyota Yaris
6. Honda Civic
7. Nissan Almera
8. Honda CR-V
9. Toyota RAV4
10. Nissan Micra

The British built Jaguar X-Type placed at number 13, the highest non Japanese vehicle to make the list. The Mercedes Benz SLK showed up at number 25, the first place the German cars showed up.

Used car experts agree that people looking to buy cars that are reliable and will not break down should purchase any vehicle that is made by a Japanese automaker. Warranty Direct's statistics back up this assessment, and many auto experts will agree and even advise that people purchase a used Japanese car.

Volvo came in 15th with the S/V40, the highest spot the Swedish manufacturer managed on the list. Ford's Ka came in 22nd, with the Hyundai's Lantra and the Citroen Xsara coming in behind it.

With today's consumers being more cautious about the vehicles they buy, reliability seems to be the top reason for picking a Japanese car. However, it is not the top consideration people look at when choosing a specific model over another one. Japanese used cars require less maintenance than most other brands, and consumers would prefer to drive their cars than spend money on expensive garage bills. With care and basic maintenance, a Japanese car can run over 200,000 miles, just enough to knock the dust from production out of its system.

Cars and Pedestrians

In this day and age, you can never be too careful. As time has progressed, over the years there are more people living in more densely populated areas around the United States (not to mention the world). Due, alone, to this fact- it should therefore come as no surprise to find out that there are an increased number of vehicle accidents that have taken place as a result. Is the world a more dangerous place now because there are more people? Some would debate this question and answer that "yes," it is in fact a more dangerous place.

The other week, I was driving back from working out when I saw that there was a huge accident. Later, I found out that a person walking along the sidewalk had been struck by a motorcyclist who had somehow lost control of his vehicle and had skidded onto the sidwalk. How scary is that? To think that we aren't even safe walking along the sidewalks! Is it because the speed limits are too high or too low? The fact of the matter is that people who get behind the wheel of a car, truck, bus or even a motorcycle don't always obey the posted traffic speed limits- let alone the laws of the roadways.

What is the point of having laws and rules that govern how we should behave as responsible citizens if no one follows them? Can we really be left to our own devices to trust one another's judgment? Think about it. If there were no rules for how we should drive, do you think that people would do the right thing? Would it be total chaos? It is a scary thought. There are, however, some precautions that we can each take when it comes to sharing the road. As a runner, I would always get annoyed when cars would cut me off as I tried to cross the street.

To put it another way, when you are behind the wheel of a vehicle, put yourself in the shoes of a pedestrian. As many of us are already aware, pedestrians always have the right of way (even when they're wrong). This is, in part, because vehicles can be used as deadly weapons and are much bigger and heavier than a person. When you approach a corner and there is a pedestrian, always pause to see what their body language indicates. You may have the green arrow to turn, but if a pedestrian's body language indicates that they are already moving forward, then you must yield.

It is also a great idea to try to make eye contact with pedestrians when you are approaching a stopped position or even an intersection. Usually, pedestrians will look for this same eye contact from you and will give some sort of a verbal or physical signal indicating that they understand your intentions for them to move ahead or stay where they are. If we all practiced a little more safety both in our driving habits as well as how we treat pedestrians, then it would be a much safer place to live and work in. Remember, when you're not behind the wheel of a car, you become a pedestrian. That being said, make sure that you treat pedestrians the way that you would want to be treated: with respect and courtesy!
